Halls of Mourning - Ghosts of the Past

Time lost its meaning, minutes became hours,
days became years, when life became a lie.

I was about to break when razors cut through flesh,
lights in the bathroom did flicker.
I never thought you would wait,
somehow got caught by your mesh that became my anchor.
Never got to know something like this before,
a sphere of surreal concealment.
Fear is rising up that I can’t restore
my soul if I destroy my dreamland.

You have freed me from my jail,
imprisoned in my inner self,
freed me from the chains that held me for ages.
You locked away the demons,
hunted down what haunted me,
chased away the ghosts of my past.

I fell deep into an ocean of pain.
Unable to swim nor move, drowning, drowning…

Frail fingers are trying to catch me,
trying to pull me down to their grave.
The marshes of sorrow they want me to stay,
want me to wither in morbidity.
As long as I breathe I will try to escape,
don’t want to return for evermore.
No more decay, no more devastation,
just you and me.

I won’t stop now.
