Halls of Mourning - Walls of Solitude

Breaking through the wall of trepidation
just to realize what I’ve done.
Protective strongholds of my
solitude have been torn down.

Wasted so much time on trying to fit
into your tight corset of apathy.
Acted like the drones you are,
solely driven by instincts.
Failures of nature, filth of this world,
robots without any purpose.
Compulsions to vomit, I don’t want to be
any part of your lethargy.

Sighted in a world of worms,
alone between those who are blinded.
Striving through cities, modern forests of concrete.
What once was good has turned into black.
Futility, stupidity, your constant lack of empathy
made me your eternal enemy.

I can see behind the curtain,
I can feel what life has to mean.
Every doubt is gone since I found myself
flying across the stars (with you).

I’m able to see now, I’m clear now,
sober after all these years of fighting.
