F29 - The Abyss

Like a never ending storm
The drops against the glass
Turn to noise like needles
On my sunburnt head

I cover my ears but
The maggots crawl under my skin
Into my brain
Am I standing at the edge of the abyss
Or did somebody push me in

I've forgotten
How it feels to not be afraid
I've forgotten
How to find my way back from this

This endless cycle of suffering
The gnashing teeth
Ripping at the flesh
Stumbling alongside the walking dead
No-one can see me screaming
Blistered fingers clawing at me

Slowly dragging me down
Into darkness, into despair
Crawling blindly
Paralyzed and paranoid
The dying light casts a broken shadow of my soul

There's no room in my head
For my own thoughts that drown
In the pollution
I'm up to my neck
In a cesspool of anger
Hatred and fear
I can't breathe
Am I standing at the edge of the abyss
Or did somebody pull me in

I've forgotten
How to wake up from this nightmare
I've forgotten
How it feels to be alive

This endless parade of sickness
Everyone is diseased
Trampled beneath the walking dead
No-one can see me screaming
Blistered fingers clawing at me
