The fire is warm, the ale is sweet
The fiddles rise, so lift your feet

There in the tavern, bright as can be
Elf of the starlight, come dance with me!

She sways in the circle, a flick of her hair
Candles are glowing, all stop to stare
Her silver shoes tap, her skirt takes flight
The room is spinning with joy tonight

The dwarf tried twice, the ranger too
The cleric stumbled, lost his shoe
The barmaid laughed, the jugs all rang
But still she twirled as the fiddles sang

Round and round, the lanterns glow
Every heart beats fast below
Who will catch her, who will see
The spark of fire in her melody?

The bard took courage, stood to his feet
Knocked over tables, spilled half the meat
He bowed so deep, sang clear and free
“Lovely elf maiden, now dance with me!”

She laughed aloud, spun round his side
Grabbed his hand, took him for a ride
The floorboards shook, the mugs did fall
The tavern roared with a mighty call

The chairs were flying, the ale was gone
The fiddler played till strings snapped strong
The elf kept spinning, hair set free
