Walking with my children in the good old country side
Sharing all my time with them fills me up with pride
Teaching them the good life makes me full of joy
The way my Daddy taught me back when I was a boy

That was so long ago but in my memory still when I think about the old folks it gives my heart a thrill
There was never any money just the good old loving way
Now the place that I was raised in is where I'll always stay
Some people like to travel far across the foam

But I'll always be contented just to stay at home
If you travel there's big money or so I have been told
But I think the grass is greener on my side of the road
I'd love to see grandchildren around this old homestead

If the good lord he will spare me to see my children wed
So I hope you'll show your young ones the love I've shown to you
Then I'll die in piece of mind and let the old turn into new
