This internal dialogue still rages on
From the ever fading optimist in me
To where all of hope is gone
Amidst the childhood lesson learned
And the damage that was done
Till the voices in my head
Have nowhere else to run
A fight that I keep losing
Or just a fight I've never one

Don't keep saying well I told you so
Just say nothing because I don't want to know
When will I ever learn?
I guess we don't ever learn
We keep coming back with no change of tack
And we watch those bridges burn

Well I'm clinging to the edge of what's left of certainty
Knowing full well it could all be illusion
And the ground, the very ground beneath my feet
Begins to crumble again and leaves me on the same old street

Running away with the sun in their eyes
And the city burning down
She's fighting that temptation but you know she'll turn around
Don't you love her for that weakness?
Even though she'll let him down
All that Lot is losing
Just a pile of salt is found

Another world is claiming
And other part of me
