Fresh Nelson - Lanterns (Part I)

And the only thing that I know
Is that I don't know anything
As the last few weeks will show
Is that the glory days are far behind me

I find myself losing my balance
Because it hurts to hold on
Always looking back, always trying to find
That picture, perfect moment
Where everything started to change

There's a thought, there's a line
Sinking in between the gaps in my brain
How does every chance and every second
Pass me by without a trace?

Here we go again trying to organise the future
When every plan that I suggest
Just doesn't really seem to suit you
I've painted these nostalgic stained walls
With a darker shade of pain
And brush that's way too small

I look down upon my wrist
A reminder of the instance
I made a promise to myself
To always keep my head up

And we've come this far
But I'm scared of what's to come
And the long road ahead
Will be the final test of strength
