NASA’a work force graying and becoming bureaucratic and no longer visionary
No long term plan – no compelling mission ultimately leading to the loss of Shuttle and crew

New space program – journey to inspire, innovate, discover – what else do we need?
Universal – like Swiss Army knife, doing all at once including space flights if there’s time left

It’s all OK but for one small problem: little can be gained from space initiative
Throwing out all kinds of lofty goals and failing to support these goals with realistic funding

Trying to fit Solar System-sized vision into budget that does not provide
What’s out there now with enough financing - such approach, if well-intentioned is the totally wrong one

Magniloquent and bombastic speaker, skillful rhetorician, master of blah-blah
There’s no wonder his immediate goals are somehow right here upon the third planet from the sun

Before President Bush announced his new program for NASA, the agency had long been without a visionary plan for space exploration. Now the plan was to return to the moon by 2020 as the launching point for missions beyond, to Mars and other destinations. Following a series of robotic missions, humans finally landed on Martian surface, and the Commander-In-Chief was the first man to set foot on the Red Planet.

They made that journey out of human thirst for knowledge, in the spirit of discovery, to learn the potential of vast new territory, to chart a way for others to follow, and to spread human civilization throughout the Solar System. After the Final Experiment failed, almost all colonists were abandoned and left to die. The President was the last human being to survive in the world of rock and dust. The world that became his home…
