Tekst piosenki:
Will you hold the line
When every one of them has given up and given in? Tell me
In this house of mind
Nothing ever comes without a consequence or cost, tell me
Will the stars align?
Will heaven step in? Will it save us from our sin? Will it?
‘Cause this house of mine stands strong
That's the price you pay
Leave behind your heart and cast away
Just another product of today
Rather be the hunter than the prey
And you're standing on the edge, face up
‘Cause you’re a natural
A beating heart of stone
You gotta be so cold
To make it in this world
Yeah, you’re a natural
Living your life cutthroat
You gotta be so cold
Yeah, you’re a natural
Will somebody
Let me see the light within the dark trees shadowing
What’s happenin?
Looking through the glass find the wrong within the past knowing
We are the youth
Cut until it bleeds inside a world without the peace, face it
A bit of the truth, the truth
That's the price you pay
Leave behind your heart and cast away
Just another product of today
Rather be the hunter than the prey
And you're standing on the edge, face up
‘Cause you’re a natural
A beating heart of stone
You gotta be so cold
To make it in this world
Yeah, you’re a natural
Living your life cutthroat
You gotta be so cold
Yeah, you’re a natural
Deep inside me
I’m fading to black, I’m fading
Took an oath by
The blood of my hand, won’t break it
I can taste it
The end is upon us I swear
Gonna make it
I’m gonna make it
Natural
A beating heart of stone
You gotta be so cold
To make it in this world
Yeah, you’re a natural
Living your life cutthroat
You gotta be so cold
Yeah, you’re a natural
Natural
Yeah, you're a natural

„WIll You hold the Line” – ‘hold the line’ za en.wiktionary.org „To firmly maintain one's viewpoint, principles, or situation; to refuse to change one's practices or plans”, Czyli ‘podtrzymywanie swojego punktu widzenia, odmawianie zmiany swoich praktyk’, dodatkowo etymologia (‘hold the line’ za en.wiktionary.org): „Probably an allusion to a line of soldiers remaining steadfastly in position during combat”, ‘…aluzja do lini żołnierzy nieugięcie trzymających pozycję w czasie walki". 'Linia żołnierzy' to z polskiego na polski ‘szereg żołnierzy’, stojących nieugięcie w czasie walki.
„When every one of them has given up and given in?”
"Just another product of today" – ‘Kolejny wytwór współczesności’ wydaje mi się dobrym tłumaczeniem. (today – „w dzisiejszych czasach, współcześnie, obecnie” – za diki.pl). ‘Codzieny’ to 'everyday'. Odnosi się to raczej do poprzedniej linijki, czyli: „Leave behind your heart and cast away”.
It's in your blood'.
„You gotta be so cold” – ‘gotta’ (have got to) oznacza ‘musieć’. ‘Zamierzasz’ byłoby ‘gonna’ (going to) (za diki.pl).
„To make it in this word” – hmmm. Gdybym tłumaczył napisałbym: ‘by osiągnąć coś na tym świecie’ lub ‘by odnieść sukces na tym świecie’. Między innymi, ‘make it’ za en.wiktionary.org: „...wanting to become successful or famous” – ‘chcieć odnieść sukces lub sławę’.
„Living your life cutthroat” – według mnie ładniej byłoby, 'żyjesz bez skrupułów' (cutthroat za diki.pl).
„A bit of the truth, the truth” – w sumie to nie wiem, mam dysonans, ‘odrobina prawdy’ pasuje, jeśli przeczyta się tę i poprzednią linijkę razem (są również śpiewane bez wyraźnej przerwy), lecz ‘zmierz się z odrobiną prawdy’ jest bardziej samodzielne i dosadne, jednak jest to duża ingerencja w tekst (nie ma tu idiomu, więc według mnie ingerencja jest niepotrzebna).
