Equilibrium - Des Sängers Fluch

Düster die Zeiten, geknechtet das Land,
Zu dienen und fügen die Menschen gebannt.
Kein Vogel, kein Lachen im Flur widerhallt,
Die Tage so düster, die Nächte so kalt.

Und so zogen die Jahre dahin,
Gingen nieder - ohne Sinn.
Schwere Seiten der Geschichte Buch,
Erzählen bis heute von des Sängers Fluch.

"Zeig mir zu spielen, lehr mich deine Kunst",
So sprach einst ein Knabe aus tiefer Inbrunst.
Der Alte mit Harfe, der Junge mit Sang.
Sie spielten die Lieder, so reich war ihr Klang.

Und so zogen die Lieder ins Land.
Ein Gefühl so ... unbekannt.
Doch schwer sind die Seiten der Geschichte Buch,
und 'zählen bis heute von des Sängers Fluch.

Und so galt es zu spielen vor eisigem Thron.
Der Tod sei die Strafe, das Leben sei Lohn.
"So spielt nur ihr beiden und spielet bloß gut,
Sonst mach ich mir Freude und wate durch Blut".

Da schlug er die Saiten so voll wie noch nie,
Da klangen die Stimmen zu herrlichem Lied,
Es tönte und brauste der beiden Gesang,
Und zog alle Seelen im Saale in Bann.

So wagten sie spielen vor eisigem Thron
Der Tod wär die Strafe, das Leben wär Lohn.
Doch schwer sind die Seiten der Geschichte Buch,
Und schwerlich ertragen sie des Sängers Fluch.

Zornig führt nieder der eifersüchtig' Stahl,
Streckt vorm Throne nieder, den Jung' in bitt'rer Qual.
Der Alte trägt den Toten zur Türe, weit hinaus.
Doch bleibt vorm letzen Tore nochmal stehen und ruft aus:

"Weh dir, du Mörder, du Fluch des Sängertums!
Fahr nieder zu Boden, ersauf in deinem Blut!
Vergessen dein Name, dein Leib zu Staub verbrannt,
Gestürzt deine Hallen, dein Reich überrannt!"

Der Alte hats gerufen, ein jeder hats gehört,
Die Mauern gingen nieder, die Hallen sind zerstört.
Des Thrones einstig Namen, ihn kennt bis heut kein Buch,
Nur eins fällt schwere Seiten: es ist des Sängers Fluch!

broken your halls, overrun your land!"

The old man has shouted, everybody had listen
the walls went down, the halls are destroyed
the old name of the throne, no book knows it today
only one thing fills heavy pages: the bard's curse!
