Dainsleif - Faded Leaves

Forest as old as time, beckons to me timid but strong,
The green is life, whispering a tune, unheard longing to sing.
An old man sits, at the clearings edge, i arrived and then he said,
Come young wanderer, hear my lore, this beautiful forests time is short.

Oh wandering lad, oh longing soul
This forest is ancient as I am old
Like you i was young and green like the trees
But slowly I'm dying like the fading leaves

Ways we parted and onward i went, through the enchanting scent of fauna and flora.
To a river i came, and the climate did change, to a rain, that was cold as the snow.
The sight of the dead forest, brought tears to my eyes.
I felt like a broken spirit, kneeling beneath a crimson sky.

Oh wandering lad, oh longing soul,
This forest is ancient as old man foretold,
Now i am young and green like the trees,
But with time we all wither like the fading leaves.

The leaves faded from the trees
They withered and died
Silence fell across the land
Sorrow filled the hearts of these
That fell when their lives
Slipped through their fingers like sand
Time went on as time will do
Lives, they come and go
The wanderer took time's hand
It took its toll, through and through
It was all foretold
The boy became the old man

Now i am brittle, my feet are like ash,
I live in green forest until death will outlash,
Along comes young wanderer, bright and anew,
So ill pass along knowledge given to few.

Time brings healing and brings death,
Up until your final breath
In life's grand scheme
We're fading leaves.

Burning bright as the crimson sky,
That night,
I'm faded away.
