A terrible strife arose
Mighty deeds were shown
Clangour's ybored into the midst of the twain hosts

And so battle inclined
As grievous shafts were launched
The warcry of both armies reached to star-wimpled dome

Astounding heat clutched at all

Lurid thonder-dents
Leavenes and thunders
Almighty Zeus' missiles that overshadowed the Titans

And buried them beneath
The wide-pathed earth
A dank place that even the gods loathe and abhor
