Echo - Serpent

From concealing shadows
The blackest depths
The chilling slither heard from down the corridor
You see the Serpent, don't you?
Look in its granite eyes
Wrapping around my throat and bearing fangs towards me

Piercing, sinking, deep into my flesh
Bitten, bloodied by the beast, it empties out its fangs
Coursing, running, within my veins
Its venom taints my being
Deadly, toxic, spreading throughout
I hear my hastened heartbeat as though it were to burst
Obscuring, fading, my sight betrayed
Seized by revolting visions

Humility
This terrible curse you must endure
Pathetc, tragic, oh how you writhe
I will liberate you from your suffering be assured
Give in, give in, give in to me

Oppressive, heavy, bearing down with force
Brutally it breaks and batters, brings me to my knees
Breathing no longer a thoughtless act
My spirit torn to pieces
Fiendish allure, serpentine vice
This horrid, hopeless, hellish high devouring inside
Eating away at what little remains
Why carry on like this?

Angered, enraged, a victim no more
My blood begins to boil building strength beneath the surface
Defiant, resistant, a surge of my will
I'm made of stronger things
Depleted, impotent, the poison runs its course
Harnessing my hatred, I'm held back no longer by the pain
Grasping, clenching, within my fist
Crushing the vile saint of misery

My hands are empty, no corpse to be found
Was it a cancerous thought, a defunct in my mind?
Its power, its hold on me
Finally relinquished
Banished
Vanquished
